Bill & Sophie {Tellico Plains, TN Engagement}

Bill & Sophie happen to be one of the raddest couples I’ve been able to photograph. I met Bill soon after we began attending Cornerstone Church of Knoxville, our church home. Immediately I knew he’d be a guy with whom I’d share many common interests. He, however, possesses an uncanny amount of creativity & skill that leaves the rest of us reaching. I’m always encouraged when we get a chance to hang. And his fiance, Sophie, is one of the sweetest & most kind souls! She seems eternally optimistic & was perfectly content & eager to follow our lead. I cherished the opportunity to spend some time with Bill & Sophie on a recent Sunday afternoon. We set out on a short drive across Starr mountain to Tellico Plains, TN, which happens to be one of my favorite getaways in the Southeast US. The weather was ideal & I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful experience. Thanks Bill & Sophie… you guys rocked your e-shoot!

Our first stop was at a small resort area nestled along the Tellico River. I’ve had in the back of mind the idea to shoot here… I was waiting for the perfect opportunity!

We hopped in the car & drove about 2 miles to downtown Tellico Plains, home of one of my favorite quaint restaurants, Tellico Grains Bakery. I was rather bummed they weren’t open but we captured some great moments! Oh yes we did!
Our next destination was Buck Bald in Coker Creek, TN. Home of a old Fire Tower site, Buck Bald hosts a 360 degree panoramic view of the Smoky Mountains from 2348 ft. above sea level. It’s one of my favorite places to visit with out-of-town guests!
I always plan to be on top of the mountain for sunrise. I love being able to step away & allow couples the opportunity to share such a special moment together!

Bill & Sophie, I’m so excited about your January 1 wedding. More importantly, I’m eager for your marriage & what I believe will be a great testimony of Christ’s love for the church.

Matt & Rainey {Athens, TN Wedding}

Saturday I found myself in a position where I had not a single excuse. I woke up that morning to find that the weather was as perfect as anyone might ask for. It was a warm fall day & everywhere you looked you’d see traces of a season that was quickly transitioning. Vivid green leaves were being replaced by glowing orange, vivid red, & a warm yellow. Ahhh… I love this time of year… I love this part of the world. East TN has to be one of the most marvelous of places in our world, especially this time of year, as you can see the handiwork of God in all things. It’s a beautiful place to be!

And, the day would host many wonderful things, especially, Matt & Rainey’s wedding. You may recall this rad couple from their engagement shoot in September. Back in September when we did their engagement shoot we also snuck in a bridal session for Rainey. These pics have been hiding in my computer eagerly awaiting their reveal. Check out Rainey, Matt’s beautiful bride:

Rainey’s dad played football for the University of Tennessee; she wanted to some pics especially for him. Here she is in his letterman sweater.
Rainey has this image custom framed & placed it on her dad’s night stand so that following the wedding reception, he’d come home to a surprise gift… incredibly thoughtful!
Matt & Rainey’s wedding day was phenomenal.Samuel Franklin outdid themselves with the bouquet & accompanying flowers; it’s always an honor to work alongside such talented folks.
As Rainey prepares for her groom… Wow! Her eyes are stunning!
Just prior to the ceremony, Rainey & Matt each sent gifts to one another… such special moments!
My dear friend, Lillian Prince, assisted me for the wedding & helped cover the guys. She did a wonderful job as usual!
What a lovely group of ladies! We snuck over to a nearby park for some bridal party pics.
And the fellas!
And it came time for the ceremony which was held at Keith United Methodist Church.
And here’s my favorite moment for each wedding. There’s something magical when a bride & groom are able to separate themselves from the rest of the group & simply enjoy themselves… no stress, no crowds… just one another! The emotion you capture is so genuine!
My favorite image from the day!
The reception was held at Springbrook Golf & Country Club.
Rainey’s father, Bill Emendorfer, owner of Emendorfer Restaurant Concepts, provided a wonderful spread for the guests.
The first dance.
Such a wonderful moment between Father & Daughter.
And likewise, between Mother & Son.
Once the reception kicked off it rocked strong until midnight!
Band 24/7 provided continuous jams… wherever these guys are at, a party is sure to follow. Loved them!
Thanks Emendorfer & McConnell families… what a pleasure to capture this special day for you! Thank you!

John & Marcee Paul {Telliquah Falls Wedding}

Located in the scenic foothills of the Cherokee National forest you’ll find one of my favorite hidden coves in East TN, home of Telliquah Falls Log Cabins. Mark & Rose, owners of Telliquah Falls, happen to be two of the most personable & kind couples you’ll ever meet & are equally hospitable. A few weeks ago I received a call from Rose about a small wedding they were hosting for John & Marcee on October 11. Rose was so kind to pass on my information to Marcee, bride to be, & I was thrilled we were able to work together.

I love John & Marcee’s story. John works for Harley Davidson in Knoxville & recently was in the market to purchase a home. He decided to hire a realtor, Marcee. Afforded the opportunity to get to know one another throughout the house-hunting process, John & Marcee decided they’d like the relationship to be more than just business. The connection was so strong that a short time later, John would ask Marcee for her hand in marriage. What a deal!!!

Marcee walked across the open field from Laurel Cove Cabin to the edge of a creek where her groom was eagerly waiting. The weather was perfect & the scenery couldn’t have been any better!
John ushered his bride away to their cabin where Mark & Rose had a wonderful candle-lit meal prepared for their arrival. It was a simply beautiful wedding.

Mayfield Farm & Nursery {Website Design}

In design news, I (The Visible Group) was recently hired by the incredible folks at Mayfield Farm & Nursery to redesign & develop their web presence. You may be familiar with the family due to their incomparable excellence in Mayfield dairy products. But, you’d miss out if you didn’t speak to the fan base they’ve been able to draw in the Farm & Nursery field. You’d be hard pressed to find a better place to find produce & the atmosphere is perfect for the family. While still a family run business, Michael Mayfield is responsible for most of the growing, picking, and sales of the produce and fruit. Lisa Mayfield, his mother, is involved with the marketing and advertising, and also helps organize the market. Mariah Mayfield helps keep up with all the signage used in the market. Scottie Mayfield is involved in the advertising, helps with the design and construction of our new building displays, and helps with many other odd jobs.

Michael approached me with the tall order to design & develop a web presence that would maintain the integrity of the company & better represent their family friendly atmosphere. I decided to give the new design a bit of a whimsical/folksy feel with retro textures; it seemed fitting given their incredible logo (designed by the excellent designers at SouthSide Creative). From the pumpkin patch to the corn maze, to tractor rides & the annual “Mater Fight”, Mayfield Farm & Nursery is a destination our family frequents several times a year. As an Athenian, I love how they add value to our community!

Here’s a snapshot of the new website. A special thanks to Rina, our front end developer! Click on the image to check out the site & let me know what you think… better yet, go visit & tell them I sent you! You won’t be disappointed!

Matthew & Maria’s Wedding {Knoxville, TN}

God’s providential hand seemed evident to bring a girl from Greece & a boy from the States together. Little did they know as they worked alongside each other as Scientists in DC that years later they’d never want to be separated. So, earlier this May, Matthew & Maria were joined in marriage in her hometown in Greece. All her family & friends celebrated the occasion with enthusiasm. Yet, deep in Matthew & Maria’s hearts they knew it wouldn’t be complete until his friends & family were to share.

The ceremony was held at the beautiful Immaculate Conception Church, Knoxville, TN. It was a pleasure to work alongside their wedding coordinator, Michele Wedekind.

Maria said she wasn’t photogenic; I beg to differ… she looked gorgeous!
I can’t get enough of these images; there was such chemistry when they looked at each other. Following the ceremony we took a leisurely walk over to the Knoxville World’s Fair Park.
This may be my favorite!
The reception was held at the Foundry. Every time I shoot this venue I love it even more!
Matthew & Maria, thank you for allowing me the privilege to photograph your wedding… it was wonderful spending such a special day alongside you two.
