The Pinkertons {Tennessee Valley Fair, Knoxville, TN}

When the Pinkerton family comes to mind, my first thoughts are “FUN!” I first met Joe, Julie & their kids, Lane, Anna Claire & Cole last Fall when we met at Kilpatrick Springs Farm in Sweetwater, TN for a family session (click here to see). We played all over the farm, jumping in leaves, petting horses & climbing trees. This year, we wanted something different, something unique. When I spoke with Julie about their session, her idea was to do the session at the Tennessee Valley Fair in Knoxville, TN… brilliant! I can’t even begin to express how much fun this session was, I guess you’ll have to see for yourself. Enjoy!

The image on the left was supposed to be a serious look, while the pic on the right was a happy look.

And I think this is the point when we were pretending to be animals… classic!

The whole family was in on this game & the race was on!!!

A huge Rottweiler dog was the prize the kids chose.

Love these expressions on the Ferris Wheel.

Such cute kiddos!

Excuse me, is that a cotton candy mustache?

And of course I had to volunteer to ride the roller coaster… some of my favorite shots!

We ended the evening riding the Carousel… what a fantastic time together! Thank you Pinkerton family.

Finch Family Vacation ’12 {Panama City Beach, FL}

Jon Krakauer pretty much summed it up when he wrote, “Happiness (is) only real when shared” [Into the Wild]. Would you believe that I get to live with & alongside my absolute favorite people in the world?! Admittedly, there are times when I do not feel such gratitude as the realities of lack of sleep & too much time working leads me to wish things were different. However, when I get some rest (ha!), I realize that I wouldn’t wish for it any other way… the Lord has granted me the most wonderful gift of my family!

Here are a few beach pics from our recent family vacation in August to Panama City Beach, Florida. All pics were shot on film with my Contax 645 (zero editing baby!!!). Man, these pics make me an emotional mess; I love my crew!

David & Courtney’s Wedding {Tuscaloosa, Alabama}

They must be doing something right down in Alabama. Heck, the NCAA Football National Champions for the last three years have come from the Southeastern state {Alabama ’09, Auburn ’10, Alabama ’11}. And I’d dare to say that the Roll Tide has a fantastic shot at it again in ’12. There’s an energy in the air & I can’t help myself from loving to visit.

And speaking of doing things right, David & Courtney have certainly raised the bar. I’m not quite sure how it all happened but I have landed some of the most wonderful folks as clients. You may recall David & Courtney’s Tuscaloosa engagement shoot from a few weeks back. Well, mid-August, I was able to head back down to T-Town for their wedding festivities. It was absolutely perfect!

Here’s a lovely recap of the day. For the bridal party the day began at one of my favorite spaces in Tuscaloosa, Heritage House Coffee & Tea. When I walked into the shop, I knew it would be a place I’d frequent upon every visit to T-town. The ladies at Heritage have come to know & love Courtney & went out of their way to serve the group. Plus, I found a new favorite coffee, Ja Makin’ Me Crazy, & had the most delicious Strawberry & Cream Crepe. Hallelujah!

The wedding ceremony was located at Calvary Baptist Church. Not only is this a beautiful venue but some of my dearest friends on earth work & serve there. I love so many things about this place.

The beautiful details.

David was given his grandfather’s wedding ring; it’s beautiful to see a family’s heritage continue with such wonderful reminders.

The flowers were done by the very talented Jennifer Kistler; her work was incredible.

The final touches.

Courtney, you look absolutely beautiful!

With her ladies.

And David, the dapper groom… by far one of the nicest guys you’ll meet!

And a few family pics.

As the ceremony began.

Love these pics of Courtney with her dad… especially as she kisses him as he gives her away.

And of course, my favorite part of the day. I can’t tell you how eager I look forward to a few quiet moments with the couple. I love these pics!

By far one of me favorite photos of the year!!!

The reception was held at the University Club, just off of the University of Alabama campus.

The reception details.

The first dance.

So this is how they do cakes in Tuscaloosa… wow!

Roll Tide.

By the time David & Courtney made it outside to enjoy a game of cornhole, it was completely dark. However, we had a blast & rocked it out anyway.

And the photobooth was a hit. I quickly confiscated all evidence of myself, Ismael (my assistant) & Todd McCormick (videographer of Milestone Pictures). Love working with those guys!!!

I’ve seriously never seen so much bird seed.

And another one of my favorite images of the year… Classic! Such a cinematic feel.

Congrats! You two have truly become friends & I’m honored to have shared this season of life with you & your families!
