Amy Cuen Senior Session {McMinn County High School, Athens, Tennessee}

Occasionally you meet a family that has a wonderful impact upon your life. When Joy & I first moved to East TN from Memphis following grad school, Joy worked as a 6th grade teacher. In her class she had a young man by the name of Alfonso Cuen. Little did I know that several years later, Alfonso’s father, Abel, would become a dear friend. Abel & his wife, Gaby, have two beautiful kids, Amy & Alfonso. And that is what brings me to this post. I was very honored to photograph Amy’s senior session a few weeks ago.

Amy is such a pleasure to know. She is a Senior at McMinn County High School in Athens, TN & making plans to study pre-med at Lee University in Cleveland, TN next year. We are super thankful that she’s staying close to town… maybe we can get her to come hang out with our family some more & take her up on the babysitting offers!

Although I was concerned about scheduling a December session, with the possibility of freezing temps, the day turned out to be gorgeous… I’m talking, in the 70′s! We took some pics inside but it wasn’t long before we were out running around through town. Amy, you did a beautiful job… congrats friend!

Taylor McMahan Senior Session {McMinn County High School, Athens, TN}

In our town, Athens, TN, Taylor McMahan needs little introduction. Why? Because Taylor has worked diligently to become the well-respected, responsible & popular young lady that she is today. Taylor is a Senior at McMinn County High School in Athens, TN. Plus, she happens to be one of our family’s dear friends, & might I mention, babysitter extraordinaire. I’d also be remissed not to mention that she was chosen as McMinn County’s Distinguished Young Woman of the Year for 2012. She’s a wonderful combination of beauty, talent, brains & personality. We’re thankful for her & are excited about the direction of her life.

A few weeks ago, I was honored to photograph Taylor’s Senior Session. We chose to do a few in studio as well as get outside. Here are a few of my favorites!

Taylor has the best laugh in the world.

Lovely!

And of course we had to do some pics in the football stadium.

Will Thompson Senior Session {Athens, TN}

Will Thompson… what a fella! My wife, Joy, taught Will when she taught sixth grade when we first moved to Athens. Now, just look at the guy. He’s gotta be six feet something & is a Senior in High School at McMinn County High School. And, he’s an avid golfer & all around pleasure to converse with & get to know.

To begin his senior session, we met at our studio to capture some dressier, fashion shots. I couldn’t have chosen a better suit… lookin’ dapper my friend. I love how these came out. One guy came in the studio while I was editing these & said, “Fortune 500 shoot?” Ha! Not quite, but I get where you’re coming from.

Golf plays a huge role in Will’s life so we headed over to Springbrook Golf & Country Club.

Let me tell you, golf fashion has come a long way since I played in High School… diggin’ the threads.

The Thompsons have a beautiful farm located just outside of town; we ventured that way to capture some pics.

Thanks WIll… I had a great time & hope you love your pics. Best of luck as you complete your senior year & head off to college!

Will Zabo’s Senior Portraits {McMinn County High School, Athens, TN}

So what if I’m a little bit jealous that Will Zabo is twice (okay, maybe three times) the golfer that I’ll ever be. I’m happy to shoot a mid-80 round while he consistently shoots in the 70′s. Couple that with the fact that I’ve got almost 15 years on him too. Almost every time I play the sport I walk away from the round thanking God that it’s not how I earn my paycheck. Trust me, we’d be broke!

Will is a Senior at McMinn County High School. He plays golf at a very competitive level & is a musician as well. I had the opportunity to photograph Will for his Senior Portraits. We began at the studio for a few ‘edgy’ pics… I love how these turned out. I’m thinking they’re perfect shots for an album cover.

We then ventured over to Springbrook Golf & Country Club for some casual shots before switching into golf gear.

And then it was on!

I’ve played this same hole dozens of times… if only I could hit a 4-iron like that.

Will… man, I had a great time! I hope you guys love the pics.

Julie Keener’s Senior Portraits {Athens, TN}

It’s Senior Portraits time in Tennessee! Ladies & gentlemen, meet Julie Keener. Julie happens to be a super-fun High-School Senior from Rhea County High School. From the moment I began photographing Julie I knew we’d find ourselves laughing throughout the shoot. Aside from being a beautiful young lady, she’s also really enjoyable to talk with. Plus, I’m fairly certain that she thought I was hilarious… and that, folks, makes for a great time.

I met up with Julie, her mother, & sister, Jenny at White Oaks Golf Course in Athens to begin our session. It was a beautiful afternoon… here’s a peek!

Julie’s sister, Jenny, is a Senior at Bryan College in Dayton, TN so we included her for a few shots as well. Watching these two together is really fun… sisterly love!

Love this!

Julie is an avid golfer & plays for her High School. And Jenny played softball in college & now coaches several teams as well. I wish everyone could’ve seen us taking this series of pics… hilarious!

Action shots. Julie said that she grew to love the sport by playing golf with her dad… love that!

Julie, you were so easy to photograph… great job.

After leaving the golf course, we came back to the studio for some fashion shots.

I love so many of these.

And this may be my favorite!

Congrats Julie! You absolutely rocked your Senior Session. I can’t wait to see where you’ll be this time next year… many great things in store for your future!
