Erica + Eric {Summer Wedding | Hendersonville, TN}

Jenn and I have known Erica for several years now through our best friends the Stroubes…Erica being Marissa’s younger sister. So we were quite honored a while back when she asked us to photograph her July wedding. We met up in Hendersonville a few weeks back on a typical summer day in Tennessee. It was hot! So naturally, our car’s air conditioner went out while we were driving Erica from location to location; not great timing! However, everyone remained cool (in a figurative sense at least) and we ended up having a great day. Congrats guys!

Sarah + Zack {Carson Newman College | Wedding}

My memories of Carson Newman are not the greatest.  From what I recall, I watched from my spot on the bench as our Maryville College Fighting Scots missed a last second shot to pull off the upset.  On the other hand, I’m sure Sarah and Zack’s memories of their time at Carson Newman are quite a bit better.  It was there that they met while Zack was playing linebacker for the Eagles, and it was there that they decided to have their wedding.  We joined them there a few weeks back for their big day and the heavens promptly opened!  However, everyone there was laid back about it and we waited around until the deluge stopped.  Fortunately it didn’t last long and we were able to celebrate with them into the night.  Congrats guys…I now have better memories of Carson Newman!

Rachel + Jeremy {Tennessee Country Wedding}

Ask any Memphian (or bar-b-que connoisseur for that matter) and they’ll tell you, a love story that involves Central Bar-B-Que is destined for great things.  And so it was for Rachel and Jeremy; their first date was at Central and here we are celebrating their marriage.  It was so great to hang out with this sweet couple for a day and get to know them better (we photographed Rachel’s sister’s wedding a few years back).  In addition to a shared love of Central, Jeremy will be teaching in Memphis just as Jenn did several years ago.

The wedding venue could not have been more perfect…a farm that had been in the Turner family for several generations.  We arrived on a gorgeous late-spring afternoon, and thankfully the rain held off just long enough.  Thank you so much for asking Jenn and I to be a part of your big day; we had a blast!

This farm has been a part of the Turner family for generations.

Preparing the venue.

Rachel had personalized gifts for all of her bridesmaids.

The lovely bride.

If only this group knew how to let loose and have fun…

Rachel’s sister Kristen and her husband Houston.  You’ll remember their wedding (here) from a few years back.

The handsome groom.

Jenn added some of our favorite things to do from our time in Memphis; can’t go wrong with Central BBQ!

Such a wonderful time of prayer from the bridal party before the wedding began.

The ceremony begins.

I love this privately shared moment during the ceremony.

Such exquisite cornhole form.

The first dance.

A tear in the father daughter dance.  These are starting to get me every time!

And the party starts!

The sparkler sendoff…congrats guys!

Emily + Derrick {A Christmas Wedding | Cleveland, TN}

It’s official, I (Alan) am getting old!  I have now photographed a bride whose birth announcement I can remember…yikes!  Meet Emily and her husband Derrick.  Emily’s family and I go way back.  Her father Ron was my Sunday school teacher way back when at First Baptist Athens.  I still remember Emily as a child…pigtails, freckles, and as cute as can be!  Where does the time go?  Instead of pigtails, Emily has no grown into a beautiful young lady, and I was honored recently to photograph her Christmas wedding.  It was a perfect December day in Cleveland, TN.  Temps in the 60s, a bit windy (ok, maybe a LOT windy), and the incoming rain held off just long enough for Derrick and Emily’s big day.  Thanks guys for allowing us to be a part of your wedding; we had a blast!

While Jenn was off celebrating Christmas with her family, I was joined by my friend and fellow photographer Marcey Allen to help capture Emily and Derrick’s wedding.  I loved the different angles she was able to capture throughout the day;  thanks friend!

After grabbing some details at the Lee University Chapel, I swung by the Old Woolen Mill where the girls were getting ready.

Love this sequence of Emily giving letters and bridal portraits to her mom and dad.

#WeddingSelfie Love it!

Such perfect colors in the bridal bouquet.

Derrick putting the finishing touches on his letter to Emily.

Fantastic shot by Marcey as Emily is just about to show her bridesmaids the wedding dress.

About a week before the wedding, I met up with Emily to do a bridal session.  The next several images of her are from that day.  She was an absolute trooper!  It may not look like it, but believe me…it was COLD that day!

Back to the big day.  This was such a great moment between father and daughter!

And Marcey was able to capture mom sneaking a peek!

The exchange of letters before seeing each other.

What a powerful moment!

A few of the groom looking quite good.

Derrick and the guys.

While I was away getting pictures of the gentlemen, Marcey was getting Emily and her bridesmaids by the Christmas tree on Lee’s campus.

No groomsmen  Only one groomsman was harmed during the making of these pictures!  Ha!

Instead of a book, guests signed and then hung Christmas ornaments on a tree.

As the ceremony begins.

Check out the cell phone grab in the background; love it!

As I was finishing the ceremony, Marcey was getting the reception details before everyone arrived.

The first dance.

Such a great moment between father and daughter!

And the party begins!

A first for me…the football garter toss.

As the Vestals leave for Jamaica; congratulations!
